Case overview

What this settlement is about

Perplexity offers a widely used web-based AI chatbot at perplexity.ai. A newly filed lawsuit claims the company embedded tracking tools on its site — including the Meta Pixel, Google Analytics, and Google Ads trackers — that allegedly captured users' private communications, including AI prompts, chat conversations, email addresses, IP addresses, and other identifying information, and sent this data to Meta and Google without users' knowledge or consent. Labaton Keller Sucharow LLP is investigating possible individual arbitration claims on behalf of people who created a Perplexity account and used the chatbot while logged in on the website. Those who sign up will need to sign an attorney-client agreement and later provide some documentation, including answering questions and uploading files through a secure client portal, to help build their claim.
