Case overview

What this settlement is about

HCF Management says that on or about September 17, 2024, it discovered a cybersecurity incident in which an unauthorized person gained access to its network, potentially exposing employees' and customers' personal information — including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, financial account numbers, medical information, and insurance information. A lawsuit followed, alleging HCF failed to adequately safeguard this data; HCF denies any wrongdoing. To resolve the case, the parties reached a settlement that has received preliminary court approval. Under its terms, all class members can get three years of free credit monitoring backed by $1,000,000 in fraud insurance, along with optional cash benefits. Some benefits require no proof at all: you can claim the free credit monitoring or a flat $35 cash payment without documentation. But if you're seeking reimbursement for lost time, out-of-pocket costs, or extraordinary losses (up to $4,000), you'll need supporting documentation — though for lost time, a signed attestation alone is sufficient. Claims can be filed online using the LoginID and PIN printed on the postcard or email notice you received; if you've misplaced it, you can email info@HCFDataSettlement.com with your full name and mailing address to request it.
